WBB Closes Regular Season Action At Toledo Saturday

- The Ball State women's basketball team travels to Toledo for its last regular season game of the year Saturday at 2 p.m. in John F. Savage Arena. The Cardinals are 20-8 overall and 12-2 in Mid-American Conference action. Ball State and Toledo have already clinched first-round byes to the 2016 MAC Tournament in Cleveland next Wednesday. Heading into the last game of the regular season, the Cardinals are currently in third place in the MAC standings and the Rockets are in fourth place with a 17-11 overall mark and a 12-15 conference ledger. Ball State defeated Toledo in its league opener by a score of 75-69 in Worthen Arena on Jan. 2. The Cardinals need to beat the Rockets to remain as the third seed at the MAC Tournament.
- Senior forward Nathalie Fontaine became Ball State's all-time scoring leader in a last second layup at the buzzer Wednesday night in Worthen Arena. Fontaine along with junior Renee Bennett helped the Cardinals to a 76-68 victory over Northern Illinois. Fontaine needed 23 points to break Tamara Bowie's record which had been held since 2003. The last second basket game Fontaine 2,092 points, one than Bowie. Fontaine also has 586 points this season, 32 shy of Bowie's single-season career. Fontaine also added 10 rebounds to the win for her 33rd career double-double while playing all 40 minutes.
-The last time Ball State went 10-2 at home was in 2006-07 under former head women's basketball coach Tracy Roller. That season the Cardinals went 10-1 in John E. Worthen Arena with Ball State's only loss coming against Ohio (66-77) on Jan. 27, 2007. Ball State also posted a 14-1 mark at home in 2008-09 under former head coach Kelly Packard with the only loss coming against Temple.
- Head coach Brady Sallee emphasizes how important points in the paint are to him and the Cardinals have listened this season. Ball State has outscored all of their opponents in the paint but seven this season.
