Brendan Surane Earns Offensive Player of the Week Honors

MUNCIE, Ind. – Junior Brendan Surane of the No. 9 Ball State (17-5, 9-1) men's volleyball team was named Offensive Player of the Week by the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Tuesday afternoon.
Surane, a junior outside attacker, helped Ball State to a 3-1 conference win at IPFW and a 3-2 non-league win over UC Irvine last week. In the win over then No. 13 UC Irvine, Surane led the Cardinals with a season-high 22 kills for an average of 4.40 per set. He was at his best when it mattered the most, recording five kills in the fifth set. He also added four blocks and two aces against UCI. In the first match of the week, Surane helped the Cardinals to a win at rival IPFW by recording 13 kills and three blocks. Over nine sets, he averaged 4.5 points per set including 3.89 kills per frame.
Looking ahead, the Cardinals will host a pair of MIVA matchup as they welcome No. 1 Ohio State on Friday, followed by McKendree on Saturday. Both matches are slated for a 7:30 p.m. first serve, while Saturday's event will be Senior Night.
