Fontaine Earns Fifth MAC West Division Weekly Honor

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Ball State women's basketball senior guard Nathalie Fontaine has been named Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week, marking the 11th time Fontaine has earned the honor in her career and the fifth time this season.
Fontaine helped the Cardinals get back on the winning track this week in Mid-American Conference action. Fontaine started the week off with a game high 22 points and 14 rebounds for her 29th career double-double in a 78-71 win over Akron Wednesday night in Worthen Arena. Fontaine was 8-of-10 from the charity stripe in the second half. She had 12 points and nine rebounds after halftime.
On Saturday, Fontaine helped Ball State erase a 14-point deficit to pull out a 59-57 victory on the road at Buffalo. Fontaine scored 18 points and pulled down nine rebounds against the Bulls. The senior guard scored 16 of her 18 points in the second half.
For the week, Fontaine averaged 20.0 points and 11.5 rebounds while shooting 53 percent from the field and 85 percent from the free throw line. She has now increased her career point total to 1,943 points (second best in school history).
