
Women?s Swim & Dive Completes Conference Championships

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Ball State women's swimming and diving team rounded out the 2016 Mid-American Conference Championships hosted by Bowling Green on Saturday evening with an eighth place finish and 131 points.
In the final day of the four day competition, Ball State had two individual swimmers compete in the finals of the 200 butterfly. Sophomore Traci Muszalski earned points for Ball State for the second day in a row as she placed 10th overall with a new career-best of 2:02.01 for seven points. The time shattered her previous career-best by over three seconds, cleared her former season-best by over four seconds, and shaved 0:00.78 off her preliminary time. Muszalski also scored individually for the Cardinals in the 400 IM event on the third day of competition by touching the wall in 4:25.73 to finish sixth overall.
Muszalski was joined in the finals of the same event this evening by junior Katie Horn, who clocked a season-best 2:04.05 time for a 14th overall finish and three points for the Cardinals. The time marked a new season-best for the Noblesville, Ind. native by nearly two seconds.
Over the course of the 2016 MAC Championships, the Cardinals combined to earn top-16 finishes on eight occasions, as well as top-8 finishes in five events.
Akron was able to seal its third consecutive MAC Championship title with a performance of 773.5 points, while Eastern Michigan earned third with 592 points. Host school Bowling Green then earned third place with 478 points.
Looking ahead, Ball State women's swimming and diving will have senior Madie Zirzow and junior Quinn Bixler participating in the NCAA Diving Zones from March 10-12 in West Lafayette, Ind.
