Bixler Leads Women?s Swim & Dive In Second Day Of Competition

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Ball State women's swim and dive team is in eighth place with 72 points after completing the second day of competition at the 2016 Mid-American Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted by Bowling Green.
Junior Quinn Bixler was the first Cardinal to earn individual points for Ball State in the four day competition as she participated in the finals of one-meter diving action. Bixler marked a score of 250.40 and placed 11th overall to earn six points for Ball State.
The Cardinals added to its successes on the day by tallying 22 team points in the 200 freestyle relay. Sophomore Amanda Kedzierski combined with sophomore Andrea Richter, freshman Lauren Elston and junior Jessica Extine to clock a 1:35.71. Although Ball State finished eighth, the time marked a new team season-best by nearly two seconds.
Two-time defending MAC champion Akron continues to lead the charts as it heads into day three of competition with 315.50 points, while Buffalo narrowly snuck past Eastern Michigan to sit in second with 198 points to the Eagles 197.50.
The Cardinals return to Cooper Natatorium tomorrow morning for preliminary sessions starting at 11 a.m., followed final swims at 7 p.m.
