All-Access: Fontaine's Place Among the Greats
February 25, 2016 | Women's Basketball
Tamara Bowie, a 2003 WNBA draft pick and 2013 Ball State Hall-of-Famer, has always been the standard-bearer of excellence for Ball State women's basketball. A three-time honorable mention All-American, Bowie graduated a two-time MAC Player of the Year with her name in the Cardinal record books 45 times.
With just two games remaining in her regular season career, Nathalie Fontaine is about to script her name alongside Bowie's as one of Ball State's greatest. Fontaine's name will also appear more than 40 times in the record book and with just 37 more points she'll become Ball State's all-time leading scorer, surpassing Bowie. Fontaine's current pace of 21.1 points per game this season is slated to become a new record.
But Fontaine's story is more than just records and numbers. The Swede came to Ball State and immediately became the lynchpin of the Cardinals' recent resurrection. The team's go-to player since day one, Fontaine has carried an immense load, at times through an unimaginable amount of pain.
Ball State All-Access explores Fontaine's career and what has helped carve one of the greatest players in Ball State history.
The Cardinals return home for their final regular season game of the season on Wednesday at 7pm vs. Northern Illinois. For ticketing information call 888-BSU-Ticket or browse BallStateSports.com.
