
2016 Ball State Football Schedule Unveiled

MUNCIE, Ind. – The 2016 Ball State University football schedule features five games at Scheumann Stadium with Homecoming set for Oct. 22 against Akron.
The Cardinals, led by first-year head coach Mike Neu, open the year with road games at Georgia State and Indiana before hosting Eastern Kentucky as part of Family Weekend on Sept. 17.
Mid-American Conference action begins on Saturday, Oct. 1 with a home game against Northern Illinois, which won the MAC West Division for a sixth straight year in 2015.
Ball State's Homecoming game versus Akron is its final Saturday game of the season. The Cardinals have won five straight meetings against Akron, including a 35-21 victory in the most recent meeting in 2014.
All four November games are slated for national television. Ball State hosts Western Michigan on Tuesday, Nov. 1 and Eastern Michigan on the following Tuesday, Nov. 8. The Cardinals wrap up the regular season with road games at Toledo and Miami.
Ball State's other road opponents include Florida Atlantic, Central Michigan and Buffalo.
An updated version of the 2016 MAC football schedule will be released in June with kick times and a television schedule for the first three weeks of the regular season and midweek games during late October and November. All other game kick times and television will be announced 12 days prior to the scheduled game.
The regular season will conclude with the 20th Marathon MAC Football Championship game on Friday, Dec. 2 at 7p.m. ET at Ford Field in Detroit on ESPN2. This will mark the 13th Marathon MAC Football Championship game at Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions, Super Bowl XL and the 2009 NCAA Men's Final Four.
Ball State's spring football practice begins on Tuesday, March 22 and culminates with the 2016 Spring Game on Saturday, April 23. The complete spring practice schedule will be posted on BallStateSports.com in the near future.
