
Women's Tennis Defeat Youngstown State, 5-2

YOUNGSTWON, Ohio - The Ball State women's tennis team continued its winning ways Sunday morning with a 5-2 defeat at Youngstown State. With the win, the Cardinals improved their overall record to 7-2 while the Penguins drop to 2-8 on the year.
"Overall we are pleased with our fight as a team," Ball State head women's tennis coach Max Norris. "It was nice to see Peyton get a road win at 1, Toni handling her business at 3, and Is closing it out last match on with a win. It was a great experience that will help us going forward."
The Ball State twosome of Toni Ormond and Julia Sbircea took the first doubles match from Youngstown State after posting a 6-3 victory over Noelly Longi Nsimba and Dominika Lackova on court three. Audrey Berger then teammed up with Peyton Gollhofer to clinch the point after the doubles tandem beat Sofia Macias and Annina Brendel by a score of 6-2.
In singles action, Ormond's straight set win over Macias at the No. 3 position gave Ball State the 2-0 edge over Youngstown State. Berger and Gollhofer also defeated their respective opponents in straight sets which helped the Cardinals increase their lead to 4-0 and clinch the match for Ball State. Dohanics was the sixth and final match off the court today after claiming a 6-2, 4-6, 10-6 victory on court six over Ana Stroe.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues spring action on the road at IUPUI Saturday, Feb. 27 at 3:30 p.m.
