Pia Named Conference Defensive Player Of The Week

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association named No. 12 Ball State's (9-3, 3-0 MIVA) junior Alex Pia Defensive Player of the Week, announced Tuesday.
Last weekend, the Cardinals swept both IPFW and non-conference opponent Barton in a pair of 3-0 finals. In the matchups, Pia posted a total of 12 blocks, as well as nine kills. By earning six block assists against each opponent, Pia led the Ball State squad in blocks both nights. The Johns Creek, Ga. native also marked an error-free 24 serves, and hit a .467 attack percentage throughout the six sets.
Looking ahead, the Cardinals will continue MIVA action when it welcomes No. 7 Loyola on Wednesday, Feb. 17, followed by No. 14 Lewis on Feb. 18 to Worthen Arena.
