
Four Women?s Swimmers Complete Winter Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ball State women's swimming and diving team had four participants in the Ohio State Winter Invitational, a two day event taking place Saturday and Sunday at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. Freshmen Mason Dahman, Taylor Miles and Audrey Mayer as well as sophomore Jenna Zitkus swam in four individual events, as well as two team relays.
The squad teamed up to open with a 1:51.87 time for second in the 200 medley relay, followed by earning another second place finish in the 200 freestyle relay with a 1:40.21 final.
Individually, Dahman went on to earn three fifth place finishes, including career-bests the 100 butterfly (57.73), 200 IM (2:12.85) as well as in the 200 breaststroke (2:28.53). The Highlands Ranch, Colo. native also posted a 15th place finish overall in the 100 freestyle with a career-best 54.62 final.
Miles' highlight of the weekend came when she was fifth overall to touch the wall in the 200 butterfly in a new career-best 2:15.10 fashion. She also earned a 10th place finish in the 100 fly (59.77), 12th in the 200 back (2:16.50) and 15th in the 100 back (1:01.55, career-best) over the course of the two day event.
In the 200 backstroke, Mayer earned an 11th place finish with a 2:11.30 time, which was followed by tallying a 14th place finish in the 100 back with a 59.70 final. The Munster, Ind. native also posted a 54.74 time in the 100 freestyle for 16th, as well as a 25.87 time in the 50 freestyle for 18th.
Zitkus posted a 59.29 time in the 100 butterfly for a ninth place finish overall, and also clocked a 2:12.89 time in the 200 backstroke event for 10th. Zitkus went on to post two 12th place finishes, including the 100 backstroke (58.31), as well as the 50 freestyle (25.02, season-best).
The Ball State women's swimming and diving team will be back in action when they compete in the Mid-American Conference Championship from Feb. 24-27 in Bowling Green, Ohio.
