Alumni Trio to Play PGA Tour Latinoamerica
February 01, 2016 | Men's Golf
Three former Ball State men's golfers have earned a home for the 2016 season on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica. Brian Maurer (2009), Eric Steger (2011) and McCormick Clouser (2015) advanced through recent qualifiers.
Steger tied for fourth in the qualifier at Club los Lagartos in Bogota, Colombia, to earn exempt status through the first half of the tour's season. Clouser tied for 15th in the same qualifier to earn conditional status.
Maurer will also be exempt through the first half of the year after finishing seventh in the qualifier at Estrella del Mar Golf & Beach Resort in Mazatlan, Mexico. C.D. Hockersmith, another former Ball State golfer, was also in that qualifier.
Maurer, Steger and Clouser were all-conference performers, team captains and team MVPs during their Ball State days. Maurer held status on the Web.com Tour in 2014, while Steger played some events on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica last year.
The 2016 PGA Tour Latinoamerica schedule begins Feb. 25-28 with the 69 Avianca Colombia Open presented by BBVA at Club Campestre de Medellin in Medellin, Colombia.
