Opening Tip
• Ball State will play the fourth game in a six-game homestand Saturday when it hosts Eastern Kentucky. The teams met last year in Richmond, Kentucky, with the Colonels winning 89-81 as part of the @EKUHoops Classic.
• Eastern Kentucky enters Saturday's game riding a four-game winning streak, including home wins over Western Kentucky and Marshall and a road win at Jacksonville.
• The Cardinals are coming off an 80-63 victory over Bradley behind a 58 percent shooting night from the floor. It was the fifth time this season Ball State shot better than 50 percent and the fourth time in the past five games. The Cardinals rank second in the Mid-American Conference at 48.1 percent for the season, trailing only Akron (49 percent).
• Sophomore center Trey Moses scored a career-high 17 points in the Bradley game and came within one rebound of a second straight double-double. Moses is averaging a double-double over the past six games at 10.8 points and 10.7 rebounds per contest.
• Ball State has been outrebounded in only one of its nine games (Nov. 27 at Valparaiso). The Cardinals are outrebounding their opponents by an average of more than five boards per game.
• Senior forward Franko House made his 89th career start in the Bradley game. Only 13 players in the 96-year history of the program have started more games. House is one start away from tying Chandler Thompson (1989-92) for 13th on the Cardinals' all-time list.
• Sophomore point guard Tayler Persons ranks 14th in the MAC in scoring (15.2 ppg) and fourth in assists (5.6 apg). He is one of two players in the league to rank among the top 15 in scoring and the top 5 in assists, joining Central Michigan's Marcus Keene, the nation's scoring leader.
