Men’s Swimming and Diving Finishes Third in the Eastern Michigan Invite

YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Ball State men's swimming and diving wrapped up the two day Eastern Michigan Invitational Saturday night. The Cardinals finished in third place with a final score of 732.
The Cardinals took fourth place in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:35.91, earning 30 points. The relay was led by freshman Chase Jackson. Sophomore Cullen Tyler jumped off the blocks in the second leg, followed by senior Tanner Barton in the third leg. Senior Austin Green brought it home as the anchor of the relay. Ball State also had the fifth place finish in the event with the final time of 1:37.14, earning 28 more points. The fifth place relay was made up of freshman Logan Ackley, sophomore Luke Nondorf, senior Bradley Ridge and freshman Ben Andrew.
Junior Isaac Walling and senior Jacob Eckert finished seventh and eighth respectively in the 400 IM. Walling finished with a final time of 4:17.85, almost 16 seconds faster than his seeded time. Eckert touched the wall at 4:18.60, almost 10 seconds faster than his seeded time.
The Cardinals finished seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th in the 100 butterfly. Senior Tanner Barton finished seventh with a time of 51.09. Senior Bradley Ridge was right behind him with a time of 51.25. Freshman Ben Andrew touched the wall at 51.53 while sophomore Alec Tuthill finished with a time of 51.08.
Four swimmers earned points for the Cardinals in the 200 freestyle. Junior Banistre Lienhart earned 13 points after touching the wall at 1:44.87 for a sixth place finish. Senior Austin Green's time of 1:46.95 placed him in 10th and added seven points. Senior JD Middleton touched the wall at 1:47.34 for an 11th place finish and six points. In 13th place was freshman Jack Luddy with a time of 1:51.36.
Ball State had four swimmers place in the 100 breaststroke: sophomore Zach Reichle (sixth place), sophomore Cullen Tyler (eighth place), junior Zach Toman (ninth place) and sophomore Luke Nondorf (11th place).
Freshman Chase Jackson and freshman Logan Ackley placed sixth and seventh in the 100 backstroke respectively. Jackson had a final time of 52.95 and Ackley had a final time of 53.56.
The Ball State men's swimming and diving team will return to action on Friday, January 6 as they travel to Indianapolis, Ind. to take on IUPUI and Xaiver.
