Men’s Swimming and Diving Sits at Second Place After Day One at Eastern Michigan Invitational

YPSILANTI, Mich. – The men's swimming and diving team wrapped up day one of the Eastern Michigan Invitational Friday night sitting at second place with a score of 249.5.
Junior Isaac Walling finished in fourth place in the 1650 freestyle after touching the wall at 16:20.76, almost ten seconds faster than his seeded time. Senior JD Middleton and freshman Jack Luddy also competed in the 1650 freestyle. Middleton placed 10th at a time of 16:52.51 and Luddy finished in 13th with a final time of 17:17.67.
Freshman Logan Ackley had a sixth place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:57.09. Freshman Chase Jackson was right behind him, placing seventh in the event at 1:57.83.
Senior Austin Green's time of 47.06 placed him in fourth in the 100 freestyle. Freshman Ben Andrew, junior Banistre Lienhart and sophomore Zach Reichle also competed in the 100 freestyle. Andrew placed eighth with a time of 47.36. Lienhart finished the event with a time of 47.87, tying for 11th place. Reichle placed 13th after touching the wall at 48.02.
Sophomore Cullen Tyler, sophomore Luke Nondorf, junior Zach Toman and freshman Noah Bullard all placed in the top 16 in the 200 breaststroke. Tyler had seventh place finish with a time of 2:09.86. Nondorf touched the wall at 2:11.05, placing him in eighth. Toman was right behind in ninth place at 2:12.75. Bullard's time of 2:14.75 placed him in eleventh.
Senior Tanner Barton placed third in the 200 butterfly with a time o f 1:51.83, almost six seconds faster than his seeded time of 1:57.08. Senior Jacob Eckert finished seventh in the 200 butterfly at 1:54.73, also faster than his seeded time of 1:54.73. Sophomore Alec Tuthill also competed in the 200 butterfly, placing ninth with a time of 1:55.93.
Ben Andrew, Banistre Lienhart, Tanner Barton and Austin Green had a fourth place finish in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:08.49, almost eight seconds faster than the seeded time. The Cardinals also had the seventh place finish in the event with a time of 3:15.74.
The Cardinals will wrap up action at the Eastern Michigan Invitational tomorrow. The first session will begin at 10 a.m. while the night session is slated to being at 6 p.m.
