Men’s Volleyball Ranks 15 in AVCA Division I-II Coaches Poll

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State men's volleyball team was voted 15th in the nation among all Division I and Division II schools in the America Volleyball Coaches Association preseason rankings announced Thursday afternoon.
The Cardinals finished the 2016 season with a 20-9 record and a 12-4 mark in conference action. Ball State was ranked in the top 15 all of last season with their final ranking being 13.
Three other teams in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association were also voted into the top 15, making it one of the most competitive conferences in the country. Ohio State, the defending national champion, is number one on the list while Lewis was voted into the sixth spot and Loyola-Chicago made the list at 11th.
The Cardinals lost three seniors at the end of last season, but just one starter in Hiago Garchet. Ball State added seven newcomers to this year's squad along with two redshirt freshmen.
The 2016-17 men's volleyball team will begin its season on Jan. 5 as they travel to Honolulu, Hawaii to compete in the Outrigger Tournament.
