Relays Come Up Big for Women’s Swimming and Diving During Day One of Miami Invitational

OXFORD, Ohio – The Ball State women's swimming and diving team wrapped up day one in Oxford, Ohio Thursday night with 88 points, putting them in seventh place out of the 10 teams competing.
Almost all of the team's points came off a strong showing by the Cardinals' relays.
Thirty points came early for the Cardinals as they took sixth place in the first event, the 200 freestyle relay, with a time of 1:35.26. The relay consisted of freshman Peighton Gilbert, freshman Anne Vormohr, junior Amanda Kedzierski and senior Jessica Extine.
Ball State also took 12th place in the 200 freestyle relay, adding 14 more points to start off the day. The relay team that was made up of freshman Sophie Bader, sophomore Lauren Elston, sophomore Liz Madison and senior Courtney Mudd finished with a final time of 1:36.54.
Anne Vormohr, Amanda Kedzierski, Sophie Bader and Jessica Extine helped add another 24 points with their ninth place finish in the 400 medley relay at 3:49.08. Also in the 400 medley relay, junior Andrea Richter, sophomore Mason Dahman, senior Katie Horn and freshman Peighton Gilbert finished with a time of 3:56.50 and earned 14 points.
Senior Jessica Extine added six more points to the Cardinals day one score as she touched the wall at 23.72 in the 50 freestyle.
The Cardinals will continue in the Miami Invitational as they compete all day tomorrow and Saturday.
