Looking back on the Northern Illinois game …
"Obviously a disappointing loss on Saturday. I don't want to take anything away from Northern Illinois, they came in here and they won the game. They deserved to win … We had too many mental mistakes, too many missed assignments that took place in that game, period, in order win that game."
On facing one of the top quarterbacks in the MAC in Central Michigan quarterback Cooper Rush …
"He's a gamer. He's a guy that just makes plays, no matter what the current situation is in. Any game he's been in, he just keeps competing. You watch the tape and you know why he's one of the best in our conference and one of the best in the country."
Thoughts on slow starts for Ball State …
"I tell our guys for us to get better in the first half, it's about being detailed when we start the game. We cannot come out and ease into the flow of the game. It's got to be one of those thing where when we hit the field, we've got to be ready to roll."
On running back James Gilbert's passion for football …
"He loves the game of football. I love that quality about his makeup, he loves playing the game. He's passionate. He's tough. He's got that look in his eye, like he can't wait, and he's like "Give me the ball, just give me the ball."
