
Women?s Swim & Dive Drops Conference Loss To Ohio

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ball State women's swimming and diving team completed the final dual meet of the season when it took on Mid-American Conference opponent Ohio Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats topped the Cardinals 194-102 in the Ohio University Aquatics Center.
Sophomore Amanda Kedzierski was the lone Cardinal to earn an individual event win over the Bobcats, as well as partake in the only relay event win of the day for Ball State. Kedzierski clocked a 1:05.53 time in the 100 breaststroke and combined with Liz Madison, Lauren Elston and Jessica Extine for a 1:38.68 final in the 200 freestyle relay to round out the meet. The squad also earned a second place finish in the 400 medley relay with a 3:58.49 time.
In the 200 breast, senior Sydney Harris marked the highest finish for Ball State with a 2:29.66 time for second, while Madison followed with a 2:33.23 time for a third place finish. The event was followed by the 500 free in which sophomore Traci Muszalski earned a second place finish with a 5:17.22 final, while she was followed by sophomore Morgan Brebberman who touched the wall in 5:21.35.
Junior Katie Horn added to the Ball State second place finishes when she marked a 58.32 time in the 100 butterfly, while junior Kimberly Scott did the same in the 200 IM with a 2:12.81 time.
In the diving well, senior Madie Zirzow finished second overall in one-meter diving action with a score of 259.27. Zirzow also clinched another second place finish in three-meter action when she turned in a 253.05 score.
Three-meter diving action also showcased Quinn Bixler earning a score of 229.50, Taylor Fiew with a 221.70 score and Brittany Penn earning a 221.55 mark. The trio earned scores of 238.50, 238.12 and 220.42, respectively, in the earlier one-meter competition.
Although today's meet with Ohio rounded out regular season action for the Ball State women's swimming and diving team as a whole, select members from the team will participate in the Ohio State Winter Invitational Feb. 13-14 prior to the 2016 Women's Swimming and Diving MAC Championships Feb. 24-27.
