Women's Swim & Dive Earns CSCAA Scholar All-America Award

NORFOLK, Va. – The Ball State women's swimming and diving program earned a collective grade point average of 3.62 for the fall semester, earning them the honor of being named a College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team.
“We are proud of how our student athletes perform in the classroom and the pool and admire how they find their balance,” Ball State women's swimming and diving head coach Kristy Castillo said. “The team has worked hard for this accomplishment and take a lot of pride in their academics. Our program has a strong tradition of excellence in the classroom, and we are excited to see that tradition continue.”
The Cardinals' GPA was the third highest overall of all Division I women's programs, with only one other Mid-American Conference opponent earning a higher mark. Bowling Green and Grand Canyon earned a 3.63 team GPA, while Boise State topped the list with a 3.64 collective GPA. Ball State's 3.62 mark was met by Wagner and is the highest of all Ball State athletic programs.
The CSCAA Scholar All-America Team awards are in recognition of teams' that achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2015 fall semester. The recognition was increased by 40 teams from the 2014 fall semester, and honored 547 swimming and diving programs that represent 354 colleges and universities.
