Pete Lembo Press Conference - Toledo Week
September 29, 2015 | Football
On Where Ball State Stands Right Now …
"We are working very hard right now as a team. We are playing really hard right now and hopefully we can sustain that. Clearly we have good kids that care a lot about what we are doing and how we do it. The big question now is can we get better? Can we keep striving to get the most out of each guy and each unit in a cumulative way?"
On Facing An Undefeated Toledo Squad …
"Whether it's Eastern Michigan or Toledo or any other MAC teams we play, our approach in every one of these games is that it is a championship game. Toledo is very well coached. They will certainly come in with a good plan to attack us and we have to do the exact same thing as we prepare for them this week."
On Ball State's Offensive Attack …
"For us to be as diverse as we would like to be offensively and play to our strengths, we have to incorporate [Riley Neal] into the run game. You have to put any cautions or fears to the side and play to the strengths of the guys that you have. We are just going to continue to take what the defense gives us."
On Playing At Home After Three Straight Road Games …
"It's always great to be playing in front of our fan base at Scheumann Stadium and having a great opponent coming in. One of the big reasons we exist as a program is for the campus community and the local community. Obviously this week is Homecoming, so there will be a number of alumni that come back and have a chance to see a Division I football game against a great opponent."
On Having Center Jacob Richard On The Team …
"If you ask most people or if you ask me who the best football player is on your team, I would say Jacob Richard. I think he brings that much to our team both in terms of tangibles and intangibles. He is a tremendous football player. He is a master at his craft. He brings his best every day. He finds ways to get better every day and make other people better every day. He embodies everything you want a player in our program to be."
