Pete Lembo Press Conference Quotes ? Eastern Michigan Week
September 15, 2015 | Football
On Texas A&M game...
“It was a very disappointing start. We hoped to be able to stay on the field offensively and take a little pressure off our defense by moving the chains and we weren't able to do that for the most part early in the game.”
“Defensively, we had several opportunities in the first half where we got Texas A&M into some third-and-longs and didn't make plays, didn't fit things the right way and allowed them to continue drives they ended up scoring on.”
“We definitely had opportunities to do both of those things early in the game, stay on the field offensively and get off the field defensively, we just didn't get it done.”
“On special teams, which has always been an area we have prided ourselves on making plays, we didn't. We didn't do anything special, it wasn't anything horrific on special teams, but we didn't excel the way we expect our guys to.”
“We went in with a plan to handle our offensive operation with a combination of an incredible defensive line for Texas A&M and some crowd noise we knew would be more intense than anything we had ever dealt with before … Our plan was tremendous, it really served us well and gave our offensive line a chance to be successful against that defensive front. I am very pleased with the job our offensive coaches did preparing our guys for that, and the job our offensive line and quarterbacks did orchestrating that.”
“We learned a lot about our team and we learned a lot about individual guys.”
On Eastern Michigan...
“We have a big test this week going up to Eastern Michigan. This is a much improved team from where they were a year ago. They have many returning players plus some good new additions. They also have a very good coaching staff trying to instill a winning culture on and off the field there and you can see that taking shape. This is a team that is playing hard and playing with purpose. You can see the energy on the sidelines.”
“This is a very talented offensive as far as personnel.”
“Defensively they are very sound. They play very hard. They pursue very well. They haven't changed much from last year which is smart. Their kids are getting used to playing in that system and very rarely do you see them out of position.”
“It's a good football team. It's an improving football team. It's a well-coached football team and you can see that based on how they started the year.”
Quarterbacks...
“Both Jack and Riley will share reps and we will see how the week goes, but I am assuming that both guys will play this weekend.”
“They [Jack and Riley] are two even keeled guys. They are both team oriented and it takes a lot to phase either guy. They are both tremendous guys and have been very supportive of each other. It's nice to have two guys you have confidence in.”
Defense...
“On a defensive standpoint, we need to come out and make sure we are very sound and being aggressive.”
“Josh Posely is a guy that practices very hard and that's where it all starts. He is a guy that we can use in a variety of ways.”
