August 28, 2015 | Women's Basketball
MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State women's basketball coach head Brady Sallee has announced the hiring of Sydney Mitchell, who will join the 2015-16 basketball staff as the director of basketball operations.
“I am very excited about the addition of Sydney to our staff,” Sallee said. “She was one of the toughest, hardest working and loyal players I've ever had the privilege of coaching and I fully expect her to bring those same qualities to our Director of Operations position.”
Mitchell was a forward for the Eastern Illinois women's basketball team from 2009-13 where she played three seasons under Sallee. She finished her career at EIU 20th all-time in scoring (1,056 points), sixth in rebounding (697), 10th in free throws made (278) and in free throws attempted (391).
Prior to Mitchell's arrival at Ball State, she worked for Amazon (2015), In-Home Care Taker (2014-15) and coached junior varsity basketball in Indianapolis.
Mitchell earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and sports studies in May of 2013 from Eastern Illinois. While working on her master's degree in kinesiology and sports studies, she was an intern for the EIU athletics strength and conditioning program. She also worked at the EIU assessment testing and prescription lab before earning her master's degree in August of 2014.
