Track & Field Closes 2015 MAC Championship Action

MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State track and field team closed competition in the 2015 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships with nine points for a 12th place finish at University Track in the Briner Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.
Junior Danielle Dahl (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) led the Cardinals on the final day of competition, placing fourth in the 800m run with a finals time of 2:11.81. With today's effort, Dahl shaved valuable time off of her 2:12.45 10th-place time in preliminaries yesterday to score five points for the Cardinals this afternoon. The time also marks a new career best for Dahl in the 800m event.
Akron won the meet with a score of 142 points, followed by Eastern Michigan (128.5), Kent State (124), Northern Illinois (107), Central Michigan (69), Western Michigan (53), Toledo (52), Buffalo (51.5), Bowling Green (48), Miami (24), Ohio (11) and Ball State (9).
Senior Rebecca Lomax (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) placed fifth and scored four points for the Cardinals in the high jump by clearing the bar at a height of 1.75m. The height marked the third time Lomax has reached a season best of 1.75m this year.
Other individuals competing on the final day for the Cardinals were Zenée Gadson (Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro), who earned an 11.45m distance on the triple jump for 12th, as well as Michaela Hull (Bloomington, Ind./South) and Marie Lumpkin (Losantville, Ind./Union), who marked 17th (41.70) and 18th (38.15) in the discus, respectively.
The Cardinals narrowly missed scoring placement when they finished ninth in the 400m relay by the combination of Makelle Skelton (Fort Wayne, Ind./Northrop), Anna-Kay West (Manchester, Jamaica/Manchester), Gabrielle Perryman (Beachwood, Ohio/Beachwood), and Lomax in a new season best of 47.11.
Olivia Ashba (Ellettsville, Ind./Edgewood), Dahl, Skelton and Hannah Lange (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville) turned in an 11th-place finish in a 3:55.13 fashion in the 1600m relay to round out the 2015 MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
