Track & Field Heads To Oxford For Miami Invitational
April 02, 2015 | Track & Field
MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State track & field team is set to compete in its second outdoor meet of the 2015 season when it travels to Oxford, Ohio, for Saturday's Miami Invitational at George L. Rider Track.
The meet was originally scheduled to run Friday and Saturday, but Friday's forecasted wet weather has led to an adjustment to the meet schedule. Field events are now slated to start at 9:30 a.m. with the women's hammer, while track events begin at 10 a.m. with the women's 10,000m run.
The Miami Invitational will mark just the second outdoor meet for the Cardinals this season, after weather forced the cancelation of last weekend's Polar Bear Invitational hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University. Ball State opened the outdoor season with 17 top 10 finishes at the Bulls Invitational hosted by USF March 19-20.
QUICK HITS:
- Senior Christina Crawford (Belleville, Mich./Romulus) and sophomore Makelle Skelton (Fort Wayne, Ind./Northrop) enter the week ranked second (5.72m) and fourth (5.55m), respectively, on the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Performance list in the long jump. During the indoor season, Skelton earned All-MAC Second Team honors for placing second in the long jump at the MAC Indoor Championships, while Crawford followed close behind in third.
