Nearing the conclusion of one three-game series, Ball State and Indiana announced a new three-game football series to occur between 2018-20.
“A renewed series between Ball State and Indiana is an outstanding opportunity for the student-athletes and fan bases of both institutions,” Ball State head coach Pete Lembo said. “Our previous games in Bloomington and at Lucas Oil Stadium have been highly competitive and very well attended. These contests will bring great exposure for both teams in our home state. We greatly appreciate the willingness of the Indiana administration to work with us to make this series possible.”
In this series, the Cardinals will travel to Bloomington, Ind., for games in 2018 and 2020. Ball State is working on an agreement with Lucas Oil Stadium to host the 2019 game and serve as the home team in that contest.
The Cardinals and Hoosiers will play a previously scheduled game Sept. 10, 2016 at Indiana and are now slated to play in Bloomington Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018 and Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020. A date for the 2019 contest is still to be determined.
In recognition of this week's future schedule announcement, anyone who purchases a new 2015 football season ticket by 5 p.m. Tuesday will receive an equal amount of tickets to the 2016 Ball State at Indiana game.
Ball State and Indiana have met seven times in a series that started in 1997, and the Cardinals have won the last three contests. In the last three meetings, Ball State has tallied victories in Bloomington, Ind., in 2012 (41-39), at Lucas Oil in 2011 (27-20) and in Bloomington, Ind., in 2008 (42-20). The Hoosiers won the first four games in the series in 1997, 1999, 2006 and 2007.
Reserved season tickets are $111 and represent a savings of $51 off single-game pricing. General admission tickets are also available at $66 for adults and $39 for children, a 35 percent savings off single-game prices. All tickets can be purchased by calling 888-BSU-TICKET or by visiting the Worthen Arena Ticket Office.
Season ticket renewal information has been distributed and includes incentives exclusively for 2014 season ticket holders. Ticket prices for the 2015 season remain the same as 2014 prices, and this year's home schedule opens the Thursday night prior to Labor Day and concludes the Tuesday night before Thanksgiving. Ball State has four home games on Saturdays in October, including Homecoming on Oct. 3 vs. Toledo and Family Weekend on Oct. 24 vs. Central Michigan.
Lembo, who enters his fifth season as Ball State's head coach, has guided the program to a 30-20 overall record, a 21-11 mark in the Mid-American Conference and a pair of bowl appearances. The 30 victories are the most by any Ball State head coach in the first four years of his coaching career in Muncie, and Lembo's .600 win percentage is second best to start a career in program history.
Spring practice begins Tuesday and culminates with the 2015 Spring Game at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 18, inside Scheumann Stadium. All practices are open to the public, and dates of the spring practices are posted on BallStateSports.com.
