Women's Divers Round Out NCAA Diving Zone Action

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Junior Madie Zirzow and sophomore Brittany Penn competed in the one-meter diving event at the NCAA Zone C Championships hosted by Ohio State University on Friday afternoon. Zirzow and Penn finished in the preliminaries with scores of 256.30 and 179.00 respectively, though neither of the Cardinals advanced to the finals, which took the 18 highest scores from prelims.
Today in one-meter competition, Zirzow and Penn competed with dive difficulties of 14.80 and 13.80, respectively. Zirzow contended at a 15.90 difficulty and Penn at a 14.30 difficulty in three-meter competition yesterday afternoon.
Mid-American Conference foe Miami University's Pei Lin snagged the top spot of the competition with a total score of 652.00, while Southern Illinois' Kaixuan Zhang followed in second at 634.05 and the University of Kentucky's Christa Cabot rounded out the top three with a score of 616.90. Lin and Zhang also finished in the first two spots in yesterday's three-meter diving competition.
There were eight berths to the NCAA Championships available in the one-meter, along with nine entries in the three-meter from Zone C this year. In order to advance from prelims to finals, divers were required to finish in the top-18.
