
Women?s Swim & Dive Closes Conference Play At Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Ball State women's swimming and diving team earned three individual event wins against Mid-American Conference opponent Toledo Saturday afternoon in Toledo, Ohio. Ball State ultimately fell to Toledo 188-112, despite racking up 23 top-three finishes in the final conference event of the season.
Senior Carlena Magley turned in an individual event win paired with two second place finishes on the day, including her clocked 24.44 time in the 50 freestyle for first. Magley's other success came in the 200 medley relay with a 1:48.57 time for a second place finish, and in the 400 free relay to round out the meet with another second place time at 3:33.83. Magley completed her events with a fourth place finish in the 100 freestyle at 53.16.
Sophomore Katie Horn captured the second Cardinal individual event win when she was first to touch the wall in the 200 fly at 2:05.60. Horn then went on to take two third place finishes in the 200 medley relay (1:50.42) and 100 fly (58.44), as well as posting a 3:53.90 time in the 400 free relay.
Cardinal diver Quinn Bixler nabbed her first event win on the season on the one-meter dive with a score of 252.23. Bixler also recorded a 276.38 for second on the three-meter, which is the ninth best score in Ball State history. Freshman Taylor Fiew notched a new season best time in the three-meter event with a final score of 251.63.
Magley's second place 400 free relay partner Jordan VanWinkle clocked in two second and one third place finish on the day. Besides the relay, VanWinkle cinched second in the 500 free (5:09.22) and third in the 1000 free (10:33.97).
Sophomore Audrey Rodawig completed four second place finishes on the day, including individuals in the 200 free (1:52.02), 100 free (52.89), and the 100 fly (58.38). She then combined with VanWinkle, Magley, and Elaine Pitsas for second in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:33.83. Rodawig's time in the 200 free posted a new lifetime best, along with a new season best time in the 100 free.
The Ball State women's swimming and diving team will round out regular season action on Feb. 14-15 when they compete in the Ohio State Winter Invitational.
