Men's Tennis Hosts No. 60 Michigan State Saturday

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team (2-3) returns to the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center Saturday for a 1 p.m. match against Big Ten foe No. 60 Michigan State (4-3).
The Cardinals welcome back one of their own, Michigan State coach Gene Orlando, who played for Ball State head men's tennis coach Bill Richards from 1983-87. He helped the Cardinals to four Mid-American Conference Championships during his career. Orlando won conference titles his junior and senior seasons. His overall record was 91-40 in singles and 98-24 in doubles. Orlando was ranked as high as 21st nationally in doubles and made an NCAA apperance his senior season.
Michigan State has won eight of its last 10 matches against the Cardinals. The Spartans are coming off 7-0 victories over MAC foe Toledo and Detroit last Saturday. Ball State, in its lone match, fell 6-1 on the road last Friday at Cleveland State.
After Saturday's match, the Cardinals will immediately head on the road to Notre Dame, Ind., where Ball State will take on the No. 14 Fighting Irish for a 10 a.m. first serve Sunday.
