Swim & Dive Completes Day Three Of MAC Championships

YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Ball State women's swim and dive team is in eighth place with 114 points after Friday's events at the 2015 Mid-American Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted by Eastern Michigan.
Two Cardinals took on two races in day three competition when senior Carlena Magley and freshman Amanda Kedzierski swam the 200 free and 100 breast, respectively, before closing out the day in the 400 medley relay. Magley posted a season best of 1:50.44 in prelims, followed by a 1:50.82 time in the 200 free finals, while Kedzierski touched the wall at 1:04.78 in the 100 breast finals, compared to a 1:04.27 set in prelims. Magley finished in 13th overall, while Kedzierski finished 16th in their respective events.
The two then combined with freshman Jenna Zitkus and sophomore Katie Horn to set a new season best in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:51.05. The previous season best was 3:56.47.
Ball State divers Madie Zirzow and Quinn Bixler rocked the three-meter board, finishing in 10th and 12th overall. Zirzow crushed her previous season best of 265.20 set in the first meet of the season against Akron, with a new high of 289.05. Bixler posted a score of 266.85 for her 12th place finish.
Freshman Traci Muszalski added to the list of new lifetime bests when she clocked a 4:28.04 in the 400 IM for a 14th place finish in the opening event of today's finals, while sophomore Audrey Rodawig did the same in the 100 fly with a time of 55.31 for a 12th place finish.
Defending MAC Champion Akron leads the competition heading into the final day of MAC Championships with a score of 440. They are tailed by Bowling Green at 354 and host school Eastern Michigan at 344.
The Cardinals return to Jones Natatorium tomorrow morning for preliminary sessions starting at 11 a.m., followed final swims at 7 p.m. The 1650 freestyle will take place at 5 p.m.
