Swim & Dive Completes Day One Of MAC Championships

YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Ball State women's swim and dive team is in eighth place with 44 points after Wednesday night's opening relay events at the 2015 Mid-American Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted by Eastern Michigan.
The young 200 medley relay team combined of freshmen Andrea Richter and Amanda Kedzierski, and sophomores Audrey Rodawig and Jessica Extine set a new Cardinals season best time of 1:43.77 in the process of placing eighth overall. The previous season best of the Ball State swim team was 1:47.69.
The second and final race of day one competition was the 800 freestyle relay where the Cardinals shattered its season best time despite finishing in eighth place. Rodawig, senior Carlena Magley, freshman Traci Muszalski and senior Jordan VanWinkle swam a team time of 7:27.56. The finish came behind seventh place ranked Miami University's time of 7:25.60.
Defending MAC Champion Akron, along with Buffalo and Eastern Michigan are all leading heading into day two of MAC Championships with a score of 66.
The Cardinals return to Jones Natatorium tomorrow morning for preliminary sessions starting at 11 a.m., followed final swims at 7 p.m.
