February 23, 2015 | Football
Ball State has completed the non-conference portion of its 2015 football schedule with the announcement of a home-and-home series with Georgia State. The first of the two-game series will be this fall when the Cardinals host Georgia State Saturday, Oct. 17.
The Cardinals will host VMI at Scheumann Stadium Thursday, Sept. 3, before traveling to Texas A&M Sept. 12, and returning home against Georgia State. Ball State will complete its non-conference schedule with a Sept. 26 contest at Northwestern.
Ball State and Georgia State will complete the two-game series when the Cardinals travel to Atlanta for a game with the Panthers Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016. However, the date could change if the Georgia Dome is unavailable.
In honor of the addition of an opponent from the state of Georgia, anyone who purchases new season tickets will be sent a basket of Georgia peaches, courtesy of the Cardinals. To qualify for the Georgia peaches promotion, the new season ticket purchase must be made by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24. Season tickets begin at $66 per seat and can be purchased by calling 888-BSU-TICKET.
Season ticket renewal information will be mailed soon and will feature an incentives calendar exclusively for season ticket holders. Ticket prices for the 2015 season remain the same as 2014 prices and this year's home schedule includes Mid-American Conference games against Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Toledo and UMass.
This will mark the first-ever meeting between Ball State and all of its four non-conference opponents in football.
Ball State enters its fifth season under head coach Pete Lembo, who has guided the program to a 30-20 overall record, a 21-11 mark in the Mid-American Conference and a pair of bowl appearances. The Cardinals have set or tied 63 school records over the past four seasons.
Ball State will feature an experienced team in 2015. The Cardinals rank sixth in the nation for most returning starters with 18.
Over the next five weeks, leading into the start of Ball State football spring practice March 24, Ball State athletics will be announcing details of future football schedules. Accompanying each announcement will be an incentive for fans to purchase new season tickets.
Spring practice begins Tuesday, March 24 and culminates with the 2015 Spring Game at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 18 inside Scheumann Stadium. All practices are open to the public and dates of the spring practices will be posted on BallStateSports.com in the near future.
