- The Ball State women's basketball team is off to its best non-conference start since the 2006-07 season. The Cardinals improved to 5-2 overall after winning a 58-50 defensive battle over in-state rival Butler Sunday afternoon in Worthen Arena. The win also marked the first time Ball State had defeated the Bulldogs since the 2006-07 season.
- The Cardinals begin a three-game road swing when Ball State travels to Lipscomb, Thursday for a 6 p.m. (EST) tipoff in Allen Arena. The Cardinals enter the contest on a three-game win streak, while the Bison's are trying to rebound from four straight losses. Ball State has faced Lipscomb only once in program history, resulting in an 83-53 victory for the Cardinals on Nov. 26, 2005 in Muncie, Ind.
- After seven games, three different Cardinals are averaging in double figures in scoring, led by Nathalie Fontaine at 19.9 points per game. Jill Morrison (13.7 ppg) and Moriah Monaco (13.0 ppg) are also averaging double figures each contest.
- After averaging 24.5 points and 10.0 last week, Nathalie Fontaine is now fourth all-time in scoring (1,645 points) and seventh in rebounds (711). She scored 29 points against Ohio Valley after shooting a impressive 13-of-16 from the field. On Sunday, Fontaine led Ball State with a 20-point performance and added 13 rebounds in a win against Butler.
- Head coach Brady Sallee emphasis how important points in the paint mean to him and the Cardinals have listened this year. Ball State has scored more points in the paint than their opponents so far this season.
