WBB Ends Three-Game Road Swing At Evansville Monday

- The Ball State women's basketball team fell to 6-3 on the season after losing its first game since Nov. 27, at Purdue Sunday in Mackey Arena by a score of 73-63. Despite the loss, Nathalie Fontaine turned in a 26-point performance to lead all scorers against Big Ten foe Purdue. With Fontaine's help, Ball State led in three different categories over the Boilermakers including points in the paint (32-of-26), field goal percentage (49.1-to-41.4) and rebounds (33-of-27). Fontaine has scored 20+ points in each of her last five games.
- Monday's game against Evansville will mark the 14th time in program history the two schools have met with the Cardinals leading the all-time series, 7-6. The last time the Cardinals defeated Evansville was Nov., 19, 2014 by a score of 76-70 in Muncie, Ind.
- The Cardinals end their three-game roadswing when Ball State travels to Evansville, Monday for an 8 p.m. (EST) tipoff in Ford Center. Evansville has started the season off with a 1-8 record with the Purple Aces only win coming against Cleveland State (72-63), Nov. 18. The Purple Aces are 0-1 against Mid-American Conference schools this season, after losing to Bowling Green, 74-56, Dec. 2. Sara Dickey leads the Purple Aces in scoring averaging 15.2 points per contest.
- After seven games, three different Cardinals are averaging in double figures in scoring, led by Nathalie Fontaine at 21.4 points per game. Moriah Monaco (12.3 ppg) and Jill Morrison (12.2) are also averaging double figures each contest. Fontaine is also close to averaging a double-double, pulling down 9.4 rebounds per contest.
- Head coach Brady Sallee emphasizes how important points in the paint mean to him and the Cardinals have listened this season. Ball State has scored more points in the paint than their opponents so far this season. Ball State vs. Charlotte (30-to-8), Ball State vs. Western Kentucky (30-to-14), Ball State vs. Austin Peay (30-to-18), Ball State vs. Florida (42-to-30), Ball State vs. UMass (30-to-16), Ball State vs. Ohio Valley (62-to-10), Ball State vs. Butler (26-to-12), Ball State vs. Lipscomb (30-to-14) and Ball State vs. Purdue (32-fo-26).
