Gameweek: Ball State Goes Under The Lights Thursday Night
November 04, 2015 | Football
MUNCIE, Ind. – It's a quick turnaround for the Ball State football team this week as the Cardinals travel north to face the red-hot Western Michigan Broncos Thursday evening.
Thursday's game will air nationally on the CBS Sports Network at 7:30 p.m.
Ball State (3-6, 2-3 MAC) is coming off a much-needed victory this past weekend over UMass. The Cardinal defense held the Minutemen to a season-low 10 points in a 20-10 victory. Special teams played a key factor in the game as sophomore Darian Green's 85-yard kick return to begin the second half set up Ball State's second touchdown. The Cardinals rank 12th nationally in kickoff returns, averaging 25.34 yards per return.
Meanwhile, Western Michigan (5-3, 4-0) has won four straight and sits atop the MAC West Division along with Toledo. The Broncos have scored at least 35 points in all four of their conference games. Two of Western Michigan's three losses have come at the hands of top-five teams in No. 5 Michigan State and No. 1 Ohio State.
One player to keep an eye on Thursday night is senior wide receiver Jordan Williams. He piled up a career-high 179 yards receiving on 11 receptions in last year's meeting against the Broncos. Ball State has won four of the last five meetings in Kalamazoo.
