- Ball State competes in its first non-conference tournament since the 2013-14 season when the Cardinals competed in the South Point Shootout in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ball State has not won its first game of a non-conference tournament since the 2008-09 season when the Cardinals defeated Richmond, 77-71, at the Alabama Tournament in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
- The Cardinals will take on Florida in their first game of the Omni Hotels Classic, hosted by the University of Colorado, Friday at 7 p.m. (EST) at the Coors Event Center. Ball State will then face either Colorado or UMass in its second game. This marks the first meeting in program history against all three schools' for Ball State.
- The Cardinals are coming off of a impressive 72-44 victory over Austin Peay Monday night in Worthen Arena when they used a relentless 2-2-1 full-court press to stop Austin Peay. The pressure hounded the Governors into 21 turnovers that Ball State converted into 17 points. Sophomore Moriah Monaco led Ball State with 16 points, and junior Jill Morrison added 14. Junior Renee Bennett scored 10 points, and senior Nathalie Fontaine collected her 20th career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
- Cardinal fans will hear a familiar voice on the radio this weekend with Tyler Bradfield on Fox Sports 102.9 FM/1340 AM. Former Ball State basketball assistant coach Rachel Galligan will take to the air ways for the first time after leaving Ball State in the spring to pursue other career opportunities. Galligan served on the staff for three seasons. She helped lead the Cardinals to three straight Women's National Invitation Tournament appearances and a Mid-American Conference West Division title. She played for Eastern Illinois under Sallee from 2005-09.
- The last time Ball State started the season off with a 2-1 record was the 2008-09 season under the direction of former head coach Kelly Packard; (Nov. 14, Indiana 84, Ball State 68), (Nov. 21, Ball State 85, Robert Morris 81) and (Nov. 22, Ball State 61, Cleveland State 60). This marks the first time in head coach Brady Sallee's tenure that he has led the Cardinals to a 2-1 start; (Nov. 13, Charlotte 72, Ball State 66), Nov. 19, Ball State 74, Western Kentucky 60) and (Nov. 23, Ball State 72, Austin Peay 44). In 2005-06 and 2006-07 the Cardinals started their season off with a 5-1 non-confernece mark under the guidance of former Ball State head coach Tracy Roller.
