Gameweek: Cardinals Host Central Michigan on Family Weekend
October 21, 2015 | Football
MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State football team returns to Mid-American Conference action this Saturday with a home game against Central Michigan.
Saturday afternoon's game at Scheumann Stadium will air on ESPN3 beginning at 3 p.m.
The Cardinals (2-5, 1-2 MAC) are hoping recent history holds true when facing Central Michigan (3-4, 2-1). Ball State has won each of its last five meetings against CMU and has scored at least 31 points in all five of those games. Last year's game at Central Michigan came down to a 55-yard field goal in the final minute from Scott Secor to secure the 32-29 win.
Ball State has been held under 20 points in its last two home games, including a 31-19 loss to Georgia State last weekend. The Cardinals twice had possession of the ball in the fourth quarter with a chance to take the lead, but could not convert. Ball State's defense held Georgia State in check throughout the second half only to have one miscue lead to Georgia State's clinching touchdown with two minutes left to play.
Meanwhile, Central Michigan is riding high after scoring a season-high 51 points in a win over Buffalo on Saturday. In fact, it marked the most points scored by the Chippewas in five years. Central Michigan is 0-3 on the road this season. However, one of the losses came in overtime at Syracuse and another was a two-point loss at Western Michigan.
A win over the Chippewas would put Ball State right back in the middle of the MAC West Division standings at 2-2.
