Jordan Williams Added to Biletnikoff Award Watch List
October 16, 2015 | Football
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Ball State senior wide receiver Jordan Williams was one of seven football players added to the Biletnikoff Award watch list yesterday.
Williams has come on strong in recent weeks for the Cardinals, reaching 100 yards receiving in three consecutive games. The native of Indianapolis, Indiana currently ranks 18th nationally this season with 555 receiving yards. Williams was particularly effective at then No. 17 Northwestern on Sept. 26 when he posted a team season-high 133 yards receiving along with two touchdown catches in the narrow 24-19 loss to the Wildcats.
The senior wide out has caught at least one pass in 30 consecutive games and ranks fifth in the Ball State annals with 2,358 career receiving yards.
The Biletnikoff Award is presented annually to the college football season's outstanding receiver, regardless of position. Anyone who catches a pass, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot back or inside receiver, or running back) is eligible to win the Biletnikoff Award. Founded in 1994, the Biletnikoff Award is a season, not career, award. The Biletnikoff Award was created and is sponsored by Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc., (TQC Foundation). The Foundation will add players to the watch list at appropriate times this season up to the transmission of the final watch list to the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee on November 8, 2015.
The 2015 Biletnikoff Award winner will be announced live by 1991 Heisman Trophy winner and former receiver Desmond Howard on December 10, 2015, on ESPN's The Home Depot College Awards show, at 7 pm (EST), at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia.
College football fans can have a say on who wins the Biletnikoff Award. Every fan may vote once daily on the Biletnikoff Award FanVote page. The aggregate fan tally will be counted as one official vote to determine semifinalists (10 receivers), finalists (three), and the winner. In 2013, in the closest contest in years, the FanVote tally provided the one-vote margin of victory for 2013 Biletnikoff Award winner Brandin Cooks of Oregon State.
