Gameweek: Cardinals Begin Second Half of Season vs. Georgia State
October 15, 2015 | Football
MUNCIE, Ind. – With the 2015 college football season halfway in the books, the Ball State football team looks to start the second half on a positive note in a non-conference home game against Georgia State.
Saturday afternoon's game at Scheumann Stadium will air on ESPN3 beginning at 3 p.m.
This is the first-ever meeting between the two programs. The Cardinals (2-4) have piled up 10 non-conference victories in five seasons under head coach Pete Lembo. Ball State has already picked up one non-conference win this year, a 48-36 decision over VMI in the season opener.
Freshman quarterback Riley Neal put up some impressive numbers last week at Northern Illinois. His 393 yards passing were the most ever by a Ball State freshman.
Georgia State (1-4) joined the Sun Belt Conference in the summer of 2013. The Panthers are led by quarterback Nick Arbuckle, who leads the Sun Belt in passing yards (309.8 ypg/13th NCAA) while ranking second in total offense (302.0 ypg), touchdown passes (10) and pass efficiency (145.5).
This is the beginning of Ball State's first three-game home swing since 2007. The Cardinals are 17-7 (.708) at Scheumann Stadium under Lembo.
Ball State is scheduled to return the game to Georgia State at the start of the 2016 season.
