Walsh Earns Second MIVA Player Of The Week Award

MUNCIE, Ind. – After a split weekend of action on the road, freshman Matt Walsh has been named the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, announced Tuesday.
Ball State middle attacker Walsh turned in a weekend total of 19 blocks, six kills and one dig. The Chicago, Ill. native also posted a .213 attack percentage throughout the weekend, where the Cardinals were handed their first loss of the season by Harvard 3-0, then defeated Sacred Heart 3-0 on the road.
With the weekend in the books, Walsh tallies a 2015 season total of 32 kills on 54 attempts for a .537 attack percentage, with seven aces, five digs and five solo blocks for a combined 40 blocks.
The Cardinals remain ranked at No. 14 for the second week in a row after improving to a 5-1 record on the season.
The Ball State men's volleyball team will return to Worthen Arena on Friday, Jan. 30 and Saturday, Jan. 31, when it opens MIVA play with Quincy and Lindenwood. Both matches are set for 7:30 p.m.
