January 25, 2015 | Track & Field
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - - The Ball State indoor track & field team closed competition in the Gladstein Invitational with three more career-best performances Saturday afternoon at Indiana's Gladstein Fieldhouse.
Over the course of the two-day meet, the Cardinals' student-athletes logged a total of nine career-best performances. With just 12 members of the squad in action for the non-scored meet, the Cardinals also compiled five top 10 finishes over the 11 events they entered.
Leading the way for Ball State on the second day of competition was junior Marie Lumpkin (Losantville, Ind./Union) who took home seventh place in the weight throw with a toss of 16.30m.
The second day of the meet also saw all three of Ball State's entries in the 200m dash run away with personal-best times, led by an 11th-place showing from junior Christina Crawford (Belleville, Mich./Romulus) who crossed the line in 26.21 to shave .07 of a second off her previous career-best time set in the first meet of the season.
The entire Ball State track & field team is slated to return to action next Saturday, when the squad travels up I-69 for the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind. The competition is scheduled to begin at noon.
