T&F Wins Two Events At Wildcat Invitational

MARION, Ind. - - The Ball State indoor track & field team posted a pair of event wins and 23 top 10 finishes at Saturday's Wildcat Invitational hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University at the Troyer Fieldhouse.
In the non-scored event which featured a number of collegiate programs from surrounding states, the Cardinals were led by juniors Danielle Dahl (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) who won the 600m dash (1:37.26) and Marie Lumpkin (Losantville, Ind./Union) who took home top billing in the weight throw (17.73m / 58-2).
Dahl would also run the first leg for the 4x800m relay which placed second with a time 9:36.18.
Sophomore Makelle Skelton (Fort Wayne, Ind./Northrop) also had a strong day for the Cardinals, placing second in the 400m dash (59.31), while running anchor for the third place 4x200m (1:45.19) and 4x400m (4:08.50) relays.
In addition to the two event wins and 23 top 10 finishes, Ball State's student-athletes also combined to score eight career-best finishes.
The Ball State track & field team returns to action next Friday and Saturday, when it visits Notre Dame, Ind., for the Meyo Invitational.
