January 21, 2015 | Track & Field
MUNCIE, Ind. - - Ball State women's track & field senior pole vaulter Hannah Ciasto-Poor (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) has been named the Mid-American Conference Female Scholar Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 12-19.
Ciasto-Poor, a nursing major with a 3.803 grade-point average, established her second program record in the pole vault to help lead Ball State to a fifth-place showing at last Saturday's (Jan. 17) Illini Classic hosted at the UI Armory.
By successfully clearing a height of 3.75m (12-3.5), Ciasto-Poor placed third overall at the meet and topped the previous school record in the indoor pole vault of 3.65m (12-0) set by Lauren McNichols in 2008. Last season, Ciasto-Poor set Ball State's outdoor standard in the pole vault by clearing 3.72m (12-2.5) at the Dave Rankin Invitational (May 3, 2014).
The Ball State indoor track & field program returns to action Friday, when it opens competition in the two-day Gladstein Invitational hosted by Indiana.
