Ciasto-Poor?s School Record Leads T&F At Illini Classic
January 18, 2015 | Track & Field
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - - Senior pole vaulter Hannah Ciasto-Poor (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) established her second program record to help lead the Ball State track & field team to a fifth-place showing at Saturday's Illini Classic hosted at the UI Armory.
Host Illinois won the 10-team meet with 145 points, followed by Northern Illinois (103), Eastern Illinois (85), Southeast Missouri State (80.5), Ball State (44), Loyola-Chicago (35), Western Illinois (27), Bradley (25), Butler (20) and Saint Louis (19.5).
By successfully clearing a height of 3.75m (12-3.5) in the pole vault, Ciasto-Poor placed third overall in the event and topped the previous school record in the indoor pole vault of 3.65m (12-0) set by Lauren McNichols in 2008. Last season, Ciasto-Poor set Ball State's outdoor standard in the event by clearing 3.72m (12-2.5) at the Dave Rankin Invitational (May 3, 2014).
Overall, Ball State's student-athletes scored eight career-best efforts at Saturday's Illini Classic, to go along with six top five finishes.
In her second high jump competition since suffering a season-ending injury late in the 2013-14 indoor campaign, senior Rebecca Lomax (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) successfully cleared a height of 1.68m (5-6) to placed third in Saturday's meet.
Junior Marie Lumpkin (Losantville, Ind./Union) also collected a top three effort for Ball State, placing third in the weight throw with a toss of 16.49m (54-1.25).
The Ball State indoor track & field program returns to action next Friday, when it opens competition in the two-day Gladstein Invitational hosted by Indiana.
