
Men's Swim & Dive Downs Evansville 196-98

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State men's swimming and diving team earned 12-of-16 event wins Saturday afternoon over the University of Evansville, posting a final score of 196-98. The Cardinals marked three event sweeps in the 200 freestyle, 200 fly and 500 freestyle as well as clocking in 32 top-three finishes.
Both senior Joseph Morris and junior Cole Smith turned in four first place finishes. Morris earned individual event wins in the 100 breaststroke (57.51) and the 200 breaststroke (2:08.97) and combined with Smith in the 200 medley relay (1:35.28) and 400 free relay (3:10.02) to round out his top times. Smith turned in his two individual event wins back-to-back in the 50 freestyle (21.61) and the 100 free (47.41).
Freshman diver Seth Winslow topped off the diving results in the 1-meter with a career high score of 277.13, and in the 3-meter with a score of 231.83. Winslow's career setting 1-meter beat his previous record by over 30 points. Freshman diver Tyler Nock snagged second in both diving events with scores of 243.83 and 230.70, respectively.
Fellow freshman Isaac Walling earned two individual event wins in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:01.60 and in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:54.71.
Ball State swept the 200 freestyle event by the combination of freshman Andrew Carlson (1:46.39), senior Neal Fennig (1:46.58), and freshman Banistre Lienhart (1:49.02). Sophomores Tanner Barton (1:55.08), Jacob Eckert (2:04.41), and Bradley Ridge (2:04.91) were able to slate the top spots in the 200 fly, while Walling (4:54.71), sophomore JD Middleton (4:55.34) and senior Andrew Lamb (4:59.35) rounded out the top-three in the 500 freestyle.
Today's meet also featured a special recognition for the 2015 senior class that included Morris, Lamb, Fennig, Conner Snare, Andrew Sullenbarger, and the team manager Richard Osterholt prior to the start of the meet.
The Ball State men's swimming and diving team will be back in action Friday, Jan. 23 when they participate in co-ed competition with Milwaukee and IUPUI in Muncie, Ind. The event will mark the final home meet of the season for both the Ball State men's and women's swimming and diving teams.
