Ball State suffered a 34-23 loss at Toledo Sept. 20, before enjoying a bye week . . . The Toledo game included a two hour and 40 minute weather delay.
Ball State has allowed only 22.2 points per game this season, which ranks 46th in the country in scoring defense . . . Ball State allowed Colgate to score only 10 points in the season opener, which marked the fewest points scored by a Ball State opponent in the Pete Lembo era and the fewest since the Cardinals held Buffalo to three points in 2010.
Ball State ranks 16th in the nation in red zone defense, having allowed opponents to score on only 68.8 percent of trips inside the 20-yard line, including a touchdown in only 8-of-16 trips in the red zone . . . The Cardinals limited Big Ten Conference foe Iowa to only three scores in the Hawkeyes' six trips inside the red zone.
The Cardinals rank 23rd in the nation in fewest penalties per game, while also ranking 31st in the country in time of possession . . . Ball State is averaging only 5.0 penalties per contest and holding the ball for an average of 31:33 per contest.
Ball State is 17-5 in its last 22 regular season games and suffered a loss in its Mid-American Conference opener in the Toledo contest Sept. 20, for the first time since the 2009 season when the Cardinals fell to Toledo, 37-30, in Muncie, Ind.
The Cardinals competed in the GoDaddy Bowl after the 2013 season to mark back-to-back bowl appearances for only the second time in the school's 90-year history of football . . . The only other time Ball State has played in back-to-back bowls was after the 2007 and 2008 seasons.

Ball State's seven MAC wins last season marks only the fifth time since joining the league in 1975 the Cardinals have tallied at least seven wins in the MAC . . . The Cardinals were 8-0 in 1978 and 2008, 7-0-1 in 1993 and 7-1 in 1996.
Ball State finished second in the MAC's West Division in 2013, which was the best finish for the program since winning the West in 2008.
Ball State reached bowl eligibility for a third straight season in 2013 . . . The last time the Cardinals won at least six games in three straight seasons came when the team reached the mark in four straight campaigns from 1988-91 . . . Ball State won six games in 2011, nine games in 2012 and 10 in 2013.
