April 14, 2014 | Baseball
Zach Plesac, a freshman pitcher for the Ball State baseball team, has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week for his performance in the Cardinals' three-game series at Toledo last week.
This marks the third time this season Plesac has received the weekly award.
Plesac pitched a complete game to earn the victory in Ball State's 8-4 win over Toledo Sunday to give the Cardinals a series win over the Rockets and improved Ball State to 24-12 overall and 9-2 in the MAC.
Plesac improved to 7-2 on the season with the victory. The complete game was the first of the season for Plesac. He allowed only four runs – with the scoring coming in only two innings – and struck out seven of the 39 batters he faced.
Ball State will play at Ohio State Wednesday in a midweek non-conference game before hosting Western Michigan Friday through Sunday in a three-game league series. The Ohio State game will start at 6:35 p.m., while Friday's first pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
