
Haley Austin Leads T&F On Final Day Of MAC?s

KENT, Ohio - - Junior Haley Austin (Avon, Ind./Avon) tied for seventh in the high jump to lead the Ball State indoor track & field team on the second and final day of the 2014 Mid-American Conference Championships at Kent State's Field House.
Austin scored 1.5 points for the Cardinals by successfully clearing the high jump at 1.63m on her first attempt.
Overall, event host Kent State won the two-day meet with a team score of 127.5 points. Akron placed second with a score of 98.50, followed by Eastern Michigan (91.50), Buffalo (58), Central Michigan (52), Toledo (49), Western Michigan (48), Bowling Green (38), Miami (38), Northern Illinois (37), Ohio (24) and Ball State (1.50).
In addition to Austin's strong performance in the high jump, freshman Elizabeth Eversole (Mishawaka, Ind./Marian) tied for 12th in the pole vault with a career-best effort of 3.50m. Eversole improved 12 positions from her seeding, as she entered the meet ranked 20th in the conference at 3.40m.
The Ball State track & field team now turns its attention to the outdoor season which will begin March 20-21 when the team travels to Tampa, Fla., for the South Florida Invitational.
