
Men's Swim & Dive Completes Eastern Michigan Invite

YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Ball State men's swimming & diving team completed the Eastern Michigan Invitational third of five teams in attendance with a final team score of 562. In the co-ed invite, the Ball State women's team finished fourth of six teams with a score of 643.5. Men's swimming and diving captured two event wins and set 65 season bests times in individual events.
Senior Joseph Morris snagged both of the individual event wins for the Cardinals after finishing first in the 100 breast with a 55.71 time, and in the 200 breast at 2:03.22. He rounded out the two day competition with a fourth place finish in both the 200 IM (1:52.66) and the 800 freestyle relay (7:00.25) with teammates Neal Fennig, Andrew Lamb and Andrew Carlson. Morris set six individual season best times, five of which are top on the team, along with seeing action in all three new season best team relay times set this weekend.
Other team season record setters included sophomore Bradley Ridge, who set a 51.21 time in the 100 fly and a 1:53.38 in the 200 fly, along with senior Andrew Sullenbarger, who set a 53.10 time in the 100 back and a 1:55.60 in the 200 back to lead the team.
Freshman Isaac Walling snatched first in the Cardinal season rankings this weekend after posting a 16:45.44 in the 1650 freestyle at the Invite. Others who partook in the mile swim included sophomore JD Middleton and Lamb, who finished at 16:52.16 and 16:54.93, respectively.
The Ball State men's swimming and diving team will be back in action after winter break on Friday, Jan. 9, when they travel to Indianapolis, Ind. to compete in co-ed competition against IUPUI and Xavier at 6 p.m.
