- After a week off for finals, the Ball State women's basketball team returns to non-conference action Saturday, when it faces its third and final in-state opponent Butler for a 7 p.m. tipoff in newly rennovated Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Cardinals are coming off of a 75-50 victory over Oakland last Saturday in Worthen Arena, Fontaine led all scoreres with 29 points plus tallied a game-high 13 rebounds and a team-best five assists. The 29-point performance moved Fontaine into 17th on Ball State's all-time scoring list with total of 1,105 career points. Fontaine was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of Week, marking the fourth time Fontaine has earned the weekly honor over her career and the second time this season.
- The last time Ball State faced Butler was head coach Brady Sallee's first season in 2012, which resulted in a 70-62 loss in Worthen Arena. This is the 22nd meeting between the two Indiana schools. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 14-7. The last time the Cardinals defeated the Bulldogs at Hinkle Field house was in 2006 by a score of 97-65. Sallee has coached against the Bulldogs three times in his career owning a 1-2 overall mark against Butler.
- Butler enters tonight's contest with a 2-8 record including wins over BYU-Hawaii (71-50) and Wright State (57-49). The Bulldogs just fell short of a win at Big Ten foe Minnesota Sunday when Butler lost 88-86 in overtime.
-Ball State is 3-3 when is plays on Dec. 13. The last time the Cardinals played on this date resulted in a 86-80 win over Illinois State at Worthen Arena in 2009-10.
