
Men's Swim & Dive Defeat Eastern Illinois 151-111

CHARLESTON, Ill. -- The Ball State men's swimming and diving team earned 8-of-14 event wins against Eastern Illinois Friday evening at their opening event of the season, posting a final team score of 151-111. The meet featured a Ball State sweep of the 50 freestyle by a combination of Cole Smith, Austin Green and Logan Kisinger.
With the addition of Joe Morris, Smith, Green and Kisinger were able to close out the meet with a top finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:24.85, with the next closest team four seconds behind.
Smith and Morris also grouped with Tanner Barton and Drew Sullenbarger to capture first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:36.77, while Smith was able to cinch a top individual event finish in the 100 freestyle at 47.69.
In addition to his relay team success, sophomore Barton had a strong showing in his individual events where he took first place finishes in both the 100 and 200 fly at 52.71 and 1:58.00, respectively.
Sullenbarger was the top finisher for the Cardinals in the 100 backstroke at 54.60, then posted a solid 1:58.59 in the 200 back, earning second in both events.
The Ball State men's swimming and diving team will be back in action Friday, Nov. 21 and Saturday, Nov. 22, when they host the annual co-ed Doug Coers Invitational in Muncie, Ind. The event will mark the team's first home action of the season.
